ISET Announces Admissions Decisions
for the Master’s Degree Program

ISET is an elite institution training leaders for academia, the public and private sectors in the entire South Caucasus region. ISET brings to the region an international university culture that combines education with research and social engagement. The School offers:

A two-year Master's Program in Economics adhering to international academic standards with English language instruction by visiting and permanent international faculty;

A research center providing students with hands-on experience in theoretical and empirical research and producing research and policy analysis for local needs

An outreach program to re-train faculty, help upgrade teaching and research standards in economics at select partner universities in the Caucasus.

Launch Workshop for the Migration Study  
The workshop for the project "Development on the Move: Measuring and Optimizing the Economic and Social Impacts of Migration" was held at the ISET building on April 22, 2008. The CRRC-ISET research team presented key objectives of the study and demonstrated implementation strategy of the project. The second part of the workshop was dedicated to a roundtable discussion addressing related issues, including migration management, data gathering methodology, etc.

Regional Seminars for Excellence in Teaching
ISET announces a call for applications for economics professors/instructors from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and other CIS countries to participate in a three-year professional training and development program "The Art of Economic Decision-Making".

New ISET Faculty Member
ISET welcomes Adolfo Cristóbal Campoamor, who will join our resident faculty beginning in September 2008. Adolfo earned his PhD from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. His areas of specialization are economic geography and migration, international trade, economic growth and labor economics.

ISET Students Awarded Ph.D. Scholarships
Four second year ISET students have been already accepted with scholarships to prestigious Ph.D. programs abroad.  Salome Gvetadze will be a Ph.D. student at the Center for Operations Research and Econometrics (CORE) of the Université catholique de Louvain (Belgium). Anastasiya Shchepetova has been offered a place at the University of Toulouse in France.  Baqari Batarashvili was accepted for study at Rice University in Houston, Texas, USA.  Lasha Chochua received an offer of admission from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. All three students will build upon what they have learned at ISET as they undertake their Ph.D. degrees in economics. More acceptance letters are expected for other ISET students in the coming months.
