Research
ISET conducts research in-house and supports external research by individual scholars, students and economy policy agencies.
In 2008, ISET hired five of its graduates to form the backbone of ISET's Research Center. These research associates are involved in independent studies, support faculty-led research, and serve as research assistants for policy studies undertaken by the School.
ISET faculty and students have access to international and regional data sets, scholarly journals (including all major electronic collections), textbooks and monographs that are part of our library extensive library collection.
In-house research at ISET takes the following three forms.
- Academic research. ISET is involved in research which serves the purpose of advancing scientific inquiry in economics. Faculty research is presented and critiqued at regular academic seminars and published in ISET's Working Paper Series and professional journals.
- Student research. ISET students are required to take part in a year-long research workshop and write a Master's thesis as part of the second year program of study at ISET. The best student theses are available online.
- Policy studies. ISET conducts policy studies that bring together students, faculty and external experts. Such research is typically conducted on demand from public or private agencies.
In addition to conducting in-house research, ISET also supports research and policy analysis conducted by economics students, faculty and experts as part of its regional capacity building mandate. Economics students from Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan take part in annual project competitions that carry modest cash prizes. The best projects are available online.
