Seminar on Regulation of a Liberalized Electricity System
On Thursday, November 8 at 5 p.m., in the conference hall, ISET will host Professor Einar Hope from Norwegian School of Economics. Professor Hope will deliver a public seminar about “Optimal composition and regulation of a liberalized electricity system: investment, pricing, sustainability, and security of supply” organized by the International School of Economics (ISET) and the ISET Policy Institute with the support of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Among the topics discussed during the seminar will be:
- How to operate and expand a market based electricity system; and consideration of the policy objectives of sustainability and security of supply.
- The economic aspects of setting targets for investment in new sources of renewable energy and the need for investment in backup facilities and mechanisms for balancing power to secure the security of supply. Should this be a national concern or are there economies of market and system integration?
- The need for the harmonization of rules and regulations within an integrated market area and the division of labour and responsibility between regulatory bodies to fulfill the stated policy aims.
