Red, Black & White New Year’s Party

On December 23, 2009 ISET was happy to host a New Year's party for ISETers of all generations, staff and faculty. Guests were decked out in ISET's school colors - Red, Black and White - demonstrating their affection and dedication to ISET.
The party kicked off with a buffet reception in the ISET dining hall. During this opening reception, students, staff, and faculty mingled comfortably, enjoying the good company. Once the whole ISET gang had arrived, the party continued with a more formal New Year's program.
The main idea of the program was to engage every single person in different games and competitions. The program was opened by 2nd year students who made a presentation of their team.

Afterwards, they were asked to divide into two groups. One member of each team was blindfolded, and had to choose pieces of clothing from a grab bag, and then dress one of his teammates with the piece of clothing. The game was funny for both players and the audience, with students adorned in colorful shorts, dresses, bras and huge pants.
Next, the first year students were called to the front, their task to identify ISET staff and faculty members from their childhood photos. The first year teams proved themselves quite capable, successfully guessing almost all the right answers.
After the first year students, ISET staff and faculty were put on the spot, called upon to "sew" an intricate costume for one of their team members using toilet paper, markers, and a stapler.

The alumni team faced the most challenging game that day. Tied to one another, leg to leg, pairs of ISET graduates had to: 1. run to a table, 2. eat pickles, 3. make mathematical calculations, 4. run back to the starting point, 5. untie themselves, and 6. retie the next couple till all the pickles were eaten and calculations made.
With no accidents, the Masters of Economics effectively made the mathematical estimations. Moreoevr, they ate two jars of pickles faster than has ever happened in the history of economics study.

After the amusing games and competitions, the Classes of 2010 and 2011 presented skits. The second year students presented a song for ISET with touching lyrics, sung to the tune of "My Way", and the year students presented a sketch that caricatured ISET faculty and brought laughter to everyone in the room.
With smiles on their faces, all of the partygoers adjourned to the dining hall for a New Year cake, cut by the first year students, and the party continued with music and dancing.
The end of the year of 2009 was indeed special and joyful. Let the coming year be successful and prosperous for every ISETer!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ISET!
