What? Where? When?

Even though on December 4, 2009 the ISET conference hall was full of students, staff, faculty and alumni, the discussion did not relate to uncertainty in game theory, intertemporal labor choice or financial crises. The ISET community got together to discuss who was the author of the historical phrase on 10 March, 1876 "Mr. Watson - come here - I want to see you", or what Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain had in common. The What? Where? When? game proved to be very interesting and challenging.
Eight teams took part in the Game, including the staff and faculty team called www.international.ge, an alumni team named Alumni, and six teams comprised of current first and second year students. Click here to see the list of teams and names of players.

There were two rounds during which 15 questions were asked; for each question teams had a minute to discuss and guess the correct answer. The questions required no special expertise from the players beyond general knowledge and sharp logic.
The teams appeared to be very competitive and had fun. Players not only answered questions and enjoyed their triumphs, but also relished the atmosphere of intellectual achievement. As a result of the immensely tough struggle in the final round, Rock'n'Roll Train, a mixed group of first and second year students, won against Alumini.

"The final part of the game was the most challenging. Questions were difficult but once the correct answer was revealed, we realized that we had enough knowledge to answer that question. I am happy that we managed to win, thanks to our well-coordinated teamwork and general smarts," notes Davit Chokoshvili, the captain of Rock'n'Roll Train.
ISET expresses its gratitude to former ISET student Dito Nadiradze, member of the What-Where-When Club, for providing questions and leading the game. Special thanks to Giorgi Shengelia, first-year student of ISET, for his general support.
